As Long As the Sun Shines

As Long as the Sun Shines (English Editon) and Tsi Niió:re Enkarakhoténhseke (Mohawk Edition) creatively reveal the beautiful and bitter essences of the world from a distinctive Indigenous female voice. Inspired by her recent global travels, experiences, relationships and Haudenosaunee perspective, the poet unapologetically sings words of midlife wisdom and cultural confidence. By using this creative foundation to unite distinctive communities, the author expresses raw emotion throughout her journey toward inner peace from a uniquely Indigenous point of view. It is this strong expression that the poet hopes will become a global guide for her communities to follow and interpret while encountering their truths and identity.

Ego of a Nation

New poetry by Mohawk/Tuscarora Six Nations writer Janet Rogers 2019/2020.

During the many terms of residencies Janet embarked on throughout 2018 and 2019, she took on several literary projects, some small, some large, some still in the making and one; this one titled The Ego of a Nation, ready to be birthed into the world as this poet’s 7th collection.

Ego of a Nation is a celebration of human territories, bodies of lands in love with the elements with ways that nurture relationships with super-special connectedness. Full of verses serving justice, both poetic and lawful and playful spiritual interactions. Ego of a Nation is the culmination of Janet’s elevated place of poetic reflections marinated with time, experience and skilled oratory. Her poems are full of joyous observations from a free spirit, sacred reflections of an Indigenous woman and creative recounting of native survival and excellence.

Totem Poles and Railroads

ARP Books 2016

Totem Poles and Railroads succinctly defines the 500-year-old relationship between Indigenous nations and the corporation of Canada. In this, her fifth poetry collection, Janet Rogers expands on that definition with a playful, culturally powerful and, at times, experimental voice. She pays honour to her poetic characters - real and imagined, historical and present day - from Sacajawea to Nina Simone. Placing poetry at the centre of our current post-residential school/present-day reconciliation reality. Rogers' poems are expansive and intimate, challenging, though-provoking, and always personal.

Red Erotic

Ojistah Publishing 2010

This could be considered the book that started it all. That is to say, the Ojistah label, which precedes Janet's Ojistoh Publishing label was created for the sole purpose of producing the Red Erotic collection. Red Erotic is a collection of Indigenous Erotica Poetry penned by Janet Rogers and includes artwork by eight Indigenous artists, of the same theme. The collection is sexy to be sure, promotes the sensual and invites the playful aspects of sexuality and sensuality from a distinct Indigenous perspective and that includes the spiritual as well. Red Erotic is in it's fourth printing.
